Tuesday Talks – Leonard Nicklas

Leonard Nicklas, one of our own Board members, will be back for the third year in a row. This year Leonard will speak on “Forest County Did You Know?”. Leonard will teach us about trivia facts from all around the county with an emphasis on the Marienville clubs.

Each Tuesday we have a speaker come at 7:00-7:30 and present an informal talk. About something that is of interest to Forest County. Speakers may be inside around our dinning room table or outside on our spacious porch. Speakers will talk and we will have a chance to ask questions or talk to them until 8:00 at which time the museum closes. Admission is always free for members and $5.00 for guests which can include a tour of the museum and time on the grounds if you come before 7:00.

Tuesday Talks – Amanda Hetrick

Amanda HetrickSuperintendent of Forest Area Schools, will present American Folk Songs. Amanda will be accompanied by Elisha Pospisil on the guitar, and she will lead the songs and give us some background as to where these songs came from. The audience is encouraged to sing along.

Tuesday Talks – Matthew Savinda

Matthew Savinda, a Game Warden from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, will do a presentation on Owls and Eagles. Both birds can be found in Forest County and we look forward to finding out more about them.

Ed Bell, writer for the Forest Press, will speak about what he considers the magic of the forest and how he came to feel that way from the time in life when he was introduced, the effect it had on him as a child that stayed and grew and burns as bright and strong as ever.

Tuesday Talks – Doris Bisker England

Doris Bisker England is the author of A memoir In The Forest 1927-1953. Doris, who is now in her nineties and lives in New Jersey, will travel with her daughter Diane. They will read a few excerpts from her book and talk about how life has changed through the years in Forest County as well as everywhere else. We have several copies of Doris’s book at the museum for sale and she would be glad to sign any you have.

Tuesday Talks – Terry Janosik

Terry Janosik is the President at Townline Lumber and Excavation. Terry also has a hobby of videotaping and has some beautiful video of Forest County spots. He will share some of his videos with everyone tonight and talk about the spots where he shot the video.

Kevin Carter is a community minded, concerned citizen in the Marienville area. He has spearheaded a process for restoring the Marienville Railroad station and working on the Marienville Four Seasons Trail. Come hear what is happening now and yet to come!

Tuesday Talks – Brian Hale

Brian Hale will talk about the Purinton Pottery Factory that used to be in Tionesta before it became the Evenflo Crater factory. The History Center has many pieces from both Purinton and Evenflo. We hope you will come and hear all about these pieces that were produced tight here in Tionesta.

Roxanne and Jerry Thornton will present “A History of East Forest Schools”. Jerry taught 32.5 years while Roxanne taught 23 years to make a combined 55.5 years of East Forest is in their blood.

Tuesday Talks – Steve Sorenson

Steve Sorenson is an award-winning outdoor writer whose column, “The Everyday Hunter” currently appears in the Jamestown Gazette and the Forest Press. He’s written feature articles for many magazines including Outdoor Life, and Sports Afield, and is a Field Contributor to Deer & Deer Hunting. Other magazines include North American Whitetail, Pennsylvania Game News and more.  Steve will be speaking about Pennsylvania- Home to Coyotes for more than 80 years.
